Sat at the very top of the Langdale Valley, Pike O Blisco sits to the left of Crinkle crags and Bowfell. From the summit you will have views right down the valley towards Lake Windermere.
Route / description.
If you drive to the top of the valley, you will be able to leave your car in the National Trust Car Park at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel.
From the Old Dungeon Ghyll head back over the bridge onto the road, turn right over the bridge and follow the road up past Wall End Farm towards Blea Tarn. About half way up the steep road (on the right hand side), you will see an arrow pointing up the mountain.
This is the well carved out, rocky path that will take you to the top. There are some little scrambles on the way to the summit and where the path becomes unclear, there are plenty of Cairns guiding the way.
After you have reached the summit of Pike O Blisco, head back down in the direction of the tarn that you can see and the prominent path leading up onto the Crinkle Crags.
When you reach the tarn, there is a path to the right that will lead you back down the mountain. The path is easily missed so be sure to keep your eyes peeled. If you reach the stream that crosses the path, you have gone too far.
When you reach the bottom of the hill, head for the bridge and cross it. You will then follow the path through the fields towards the farm. If you look back towards Bowfell from the bridge, you will get a glimpse of the famous Whorneyside Force in the distance.
As you approach Stool End Farm, you will see plenty of signs saying ‘footpath’ with an arrow which will guide you through the farm and out the other side. Once you have walked through the meadows and got back to the main road, you will see the Sign for the Old Dungeon Ghyll straight ahead.
